Position Overview
The role of the Underground Mining Dispatcher is to assist Supervision in providing a safe, efficient, and productive mining operation. The Dispatcher shall liaise with the equipment operators to ensure that safe operation in a production environment is maintained, while ensuring data integrity of the underground operations is not compromised. The position will work a two-week on / two-week off rotation at the Ekati Mine Site (Misery Site Camp).
Job Duties/Responsibilities
· Main point of contact for underground radio and phone communications.
· Continuous monitoring of the mobile underground fleet to maintain data integrity, load destinations, and cycle times.
· Ensuring mobile equipment is always in proper operating status and known locations.
· Responsible for establishment of key performance indicators and the reporting of those with respect to the Underground Operations efficiencies.
· Identify all emergency situations and demonstrate the correct and appropriate action (i.e., activate a code one) to be taken in each situation when they arise.
· Monitor the Fresh Air Raise (FAR) and release/validate stench gas.
· Protect the company assets (including people, physical property, financial resources and information) within the span of control of the incumbent against loss, misuse and abuse
· Primary stakeholder in the future Mobilaris Fleet Management System; regarding real-time situational awareness, onboard navigation, blast support, equipment/personnel location, data and maintenance requirements.

· Participating and advocating in all safety and environment programs as well as ensuring all concerns are reported to supervisory personnel.

Education/Experience
· High School Graduation Diploma / GED Holder, post-secondary education in mining, engineering, or a related field is an asset.
· Minimum three years progressive experience in mining operations, heavy equipment dispatch, or a similar role.
· Related experience with underground dispatch systems.
· Strong proficiency in computer systems, GPS-based software, and data reporting tools.
· Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with a keen ability to relate to a wide spectrum of individuals in a team-oriented environment.
· Ability to complete reports using word processing and data entry skills.
· Able to give clear instructions via the two-way radio and phone system.
· Able to listen effectively while monitoring a multi-channel underground operation.
· Willingness to work in a remote, arctic environment on a rotational schedule (i.e., fly-in, fly-out)
