Position Overview

 

As a member of the Maintenance Team, the Condition Monitoring Technician will report to the Team Leader of Maintenance Engineering and work a two (2) week on, two (2) weeks off rotation at the Ekati mine site. The Condition Monitoring Technician is responsible for all aspects of condition monitoring of equipment and regulatory Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) inspections.

 

 

Job Duties/Responsibilities

 

·         Perform Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) inspections on lifting devices including cranes and mobile equipment, using ultrasound and magnetic particles analysis as outlined by maintenance plans, creating inspections reports, and reporting outcomes;

·         Collaborate with the team to monitor and report on plant equipment including: motors, vibratory screens, pumps, and compressors using vibration analysis;

·         Assess priorities and co-determine the most appropriate course of action for coverage of monitoring activities and repair options;

·         Work closely with Reliability Engineers and Planners to provide support with the creation of maintenance strategies and root cause analysis projects;

·         Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in line with department targets and goals;

·         Mentorship of employees, trainees, and trades people;

·         Always protect the safety and well-being of yourself and your co-workers. Follow all Company specific safety protocols and Occupational Health & Safety policies and procedures;

·         Oversee and ensure that contractors assigned to your responsibility meet quality, cost, and schedule targets;

·         Work with other trades in a flexible team environment to achieve best-in-class efficiency and productivity.

 

 

Education/Experience

 

·         Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in Condition Monitoring or Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), preferably in a mining or industrial environment;

·         High School Diploma or GED equivalent;

·         Have an understanding of predictive maintenance strategies and tools to achieve plant reliability;

·         Non-Destructive Testing (CGSB certification);

o    Magnetic Particles (Level 2);

o    Dye Penetrant (Level 2);

o    Ultrasonic (Level 1 or higher)

·         Vibration Analysis Category 1

·         Working knowledge of SAP and basic computer literacy with willingness to learn new computer skills;

·         Ability to comprehend a situation and identify underlying causes, use knowledge and experience to tackle and solve technical issues;

·         Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task;

·         Class 5 driver's license is required.

Additional Information

The Company provides travel to and from the Ekati mine site out of Calgary, Yellowknife, and other northern fly points.
