Position Overview
Join the Mobile Maintenance team as an Engineering Co-op student and soar to new heights in your career! With a two (2) week on, two (2) week off FIFO rotation at the exciting Ekati Diamond Mine, flying from Calgary, this position will be reporting to a professional engineer (the Reliability Engineer). This is a 16-month term position, starting from May 2025 to August 2026, inclusive.
As a valued member of the Reliability Engineering team, you'll be exposed to Mobile Equipment maintenance giving you a unique opportunity to gain a wealth of experience in data analytics, maintenance engineering, and reliability engineering. Ekati mine is the perfect place to challenge yourself and grow your skills, with opportunities to perform data analysis, reliability optimization, and hands-on skills in the field.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities adhere to company safety protocols, participating in safety meetings and contributing to a culture of safety within the maintenance team.
- Understand Time Use Models, track availability and downtime for major production equipment.
- Learn Oil Analysis, track samples and give recommendations to improve equipment
- Review and maintain equipment task lists and maintenance plans.
- Use CAT SIS to ensure our equipment maintenance is comprehensive to all major failure modes
- Learn and use root cause analysis to understand downtime causes and prevent future occurrences.
- Understand and be a part of routine maintenance tasks on select equipment, engage with skilled trades, operators and contractors to develop safe work instructions for maintenance activities.

Education/Experience
- 2nd or 3rd year student in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university. Equivalent education will also be considered.
- Project leadership, Planning, Time management, Decision making and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to learn innovative technologies and platforms quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
- Ability to articulate sophisticated concepts clearly and in a way a diverse audience would understand.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills (English).
- Proficient with data analytics
- Ability to perform in-field equipment inspections while following policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of general mining and industrial safety requirements and procedures.
- Good understanding of engineering principles.
- Ability to work comfortably in an industrial or surface mining environment. Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team to achieve best-in-class efficiency and productivity.
- Strong safety values.
- Prior work experience obtained through an Internship, Coop, or summer job will be considered an asset.
- Experience with reliability tools and best practices (FMEA, RCA, Pareto Graph, etc) will be considered an asset.

Additional Information
The Company provides travel to and from the Ekati mine site out of Calgary, Yellowknife, and other northern fly points.
