Position Overview

The Hydrocarbon Technician II is responsible for overseeing the storage and distribution of fuels and lubes for the site. The successful candidate will assist with the overall management of the entire hydrocarbon inventory at Ekati. Fuels and lubes will include Diesel Fuel, Jet Fuel, Bulk Lubes and Gasoline.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

• Promote and demonstrate safe work practices in all tasks at Ekati;
• Conduct scheduled, daily, weekly and monthly regulatory audits and inspections of all fuel facilities, tank farms pumps and lines;
• Data Entry and Administrative related duties
• Operate and maintain all fuel and lube oil distribution systems;
• Maintain inventory levels in all locations, distribute fuel to all locations when required;
• Aircraft fueling, fixed wing and helicopters. Single point and over-wing set up;
• Operate and maintain computerized Fuel Management System;
• Mentorship of employees and trainees;
• Always protect the safety and well-being of yourself and your co-workers. Follow all Company specific safety protocols and Occupational Health & Safety policies and procedures;
• Work in a flexible team environment to achieve best-in-class efficiency and productivity.

Education/Experience

• Extensive experience in fuel delivery, fuel distribution and/or fuel management, as well as experience in mining or industrial settings, is required;
• Bulk lube and fuel truck experience is required;
• Ability to comprehend a situation and identify underlying causes, use knowledge and experience to tackle and solve technical issues;
• Basic computer literacy with willingness to learn new computer skills;
• Class 1 license would be considered an asset;
• Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task;
• Firm understanding of the federal regulations

The Company provides travel to and from the Ekati mine site out of Calgary, Yellowknife, and other northern fly points.
